Mother's Day, Sex in the City
I am very excited about the movie Sex and the City. And the proximity of Mother's Day, I'm a of my favorite episodes: one where a fragile very pregnant Charlotte reassures Miranda will be a good mother. It is very touching. Miranda came to an epiphany while reassuring Charlotte, crying in the bedroom at a baby shower, which is hosting Miranda. Charlotte is struggling to come to terms with the fact that her husband is willing to accept their infertility and childless marriage.
What I like about this episode is like all mothers, the two women "other. There is simply no other word to describe it. Most of the time, most of us prefer a friend to a friend not a mother, but sometimes we can all use a little mother.
Lately, it seems that there is a shortage of maternity where it is needed: with youth.
First there was the fuss about the image of Lolita-like feeling between Miley Cyrus in Vanity Fair. If you have not heard, baby million, also known as the popular Disney character Hannah Montana had a shockingly naked, wrapped in foil ball lipsticks taken by Annie Leibowitz, who is known for all these images in question. There is no doubt that the image is very sexy. It reminded me of images taken of Brooke Shields when she played a child prostitute in Louis Malle's Pretty Baby, and has been at the center the same dispute.
