No Small Matter
It was almost Christmas, Maddie's favorite time of year! It was snowing outside and his mother has been baking cookies.
"Maddie ... Can you come here? "Asked his mother.
Maddie Sue looked with pride. She can not believe she had been 9 years since Madeline Raye born. Sue and her husband had tried for so long to have kids. But with age, Sue, and two previous miscarriages, but were abandoned. Then God blessed Madeline!
Was a swirl of blond hair and blue eyes. Maddie had become the center of their world, and have spoiled him too. Maddie really not understand the word no, because I have never used. And now, they reaped what he sowed. Not that Maddie was a spoiled child, but had a sense of law in developing healthy. You know, when the child thinks he should have simply because they can. It was not to blame for Maddie. Sue, is due entirely to itself. She wanted a child for so long that he could hardly deny anything. So with these thoughts in mind, and regretted that the current conversation.
"Do you have your list Christmas list for Santa Christmas? "Asked Sue.
Maddie replied. "Yes mother, I'm finally done with this time! "
Sue expected. Maddie had talked incessantly on the list. He looked through catalogs, looking at television commercials, and she always wanted to go to the mall.
"Here it is. Let Mail today." Sophie said.
Sue looked at the three pages of notebook paper was conducted Maddie. Each line completed more than 75 items!
Sue said: "Now Maddie, surely you do not think Santa will bring you everything.
Maddie quickly replied: "Absolutely. I've been good all year. And he told Santa always brings good boys and girls all I want for Christmas."
Sue sighed deeply.
"Maddie, put that aside for now. Go get dressed, because I want out of a lunch special," said Sue.
Maddie put on your favorite fighter holding money, a jersey top with a matching coat and new boots black with rhinestones. It looked like a young Hannah Montana.
An hour later, he rolled in a strange neighborhood. When Sue took a turn, Sophie saw more than 30 people lined up outside a building in ruins. The mission was to sign his word alone.
Maddie asked, "Why are all these people online?"
"The same reason will be. For lunch, her mother replied.
Maddie's eyes widened. Walking toward the end of the line, looked at the crowd. There was a small child to front than back down through the falling snowflakes. Maddie was warm in his coat and boots, but asks how the girl was not wearing a shirt and nothing foot is feeling fine.
So at this point, she walked toward her and began to speak: "Hello, my name is Ashley. I love the shoes! You know my birthday is on Christmas Day? So what is your name? "
Maddie said, "Wow, the birthday of Christmas! It would be so cool, I bet you get twice as many gifts!
Ashley just looked weird, and then quipped: "Yeah, I guess it's true, because he is equal to two times zero zero ... but hey, no big deal. "
It is while Sophie looked down. She could not believe it. Ashley looked at her feet! He wore flip flops! Flip-flop in the snow! Her feet were small dirt on the same size as Maddie. In fact, Ashley was probably the same age. Maddie was about to ask When Ashley said she had to go, said she and her uncle always arrive early before the doors open so they have a better chance of finding the meat in your soup. With So she smiled and jumped back to his place in line.
"Mom, what did he say about meat in the soup? "Asked Maddie.
"Well, dear, sometimes the mission is low on food. But they do not want to get away from hunger, while the tail is longer, volunteers began to dilute the soup. Those in the top of the line to get the best part, usually with a little meat and vegetables, while over at the end can not obtain a broth. Sometimes it is the sole receiving food all day, so Ashley and uncle's smart to arrive early, "says Sue.
Maddie silently took the soup without broth hot meat. He ate in silence, but continued to watch. Ashley noticed Maddie search. Ashley saw tape holding uncle. She and her uncle were packing tape around and around the rocker. Were actually stick to his bare feet!
Tears filled the eyes of Maddie.
"Mom, it would I'm sorry if I gave my new boots and Ashley jacket? I know you just bought for me, but I have so I could use and this girl does not? "A requested Maddie.
"Honey, I think it would be a great idea, but do not be surprised if she says no." Said Sue.
"Well, I'll just tell it is for your birthday. In this way, she can not say no. Then you really get 2 this year, "said Sophie.
Sue could not leave the joy that filled his heart, looking little walk barefoot girl Ashley. Ashley looked surprised. Then his little head up and down in the acceptance. It smiled from ear to ear. Maddie could not expect to return home and recover your list. She was thrown in the trash, and instead left a note saying: "Dear Santa, I need some of this year. I have already more than enough. Please give some gifts instead of Ashley." - Maddie
